Mel Poole


Mel Poole is a filmmaker with a passion for connecting with audiences through emotive storytelling. As a co-founder of 18 Degrees Films in Brisbane, Australia, Mel has come from a background of producing feature films and commercial content.   As a writer/director she won best music video at the West End Film Festival for Darren Middleton’s Slowly Draw Back. In 2019 Mel also wrote and directed short drama Sock and Buskin, starring Leon Cain (Mental, The Suicide Theory). Well known Australian actor David Wenham is attached as lead in Mel’s latest short film, Charlie, inspired by true events. The project is a proof of concept for feature “Soup”.  Some of her most memorable moments include shooting the famous Gerewol courting festival in the middle of Niger and the epic trek to Everest Base Camp.

Mel is known for her knack in capturing genuine and candid performances, capitalizing on raw human emotion.
